We have had an amazing summer in the show ring. The Angus show was cancelled because of the weather but from the Alyth show onwards we have swept all before us. At Alyth, Nessie was the Champion of Champions with Nona reserve Charolais champion. Nevada was male Champion with Octavian as reserve. At the Kirriemuir show Nevada was Champion Charolais with Nona as reserve.

Our biggest win in fifty years was at the Royal Highland Show when Balthayock Nessie won the Charolais female Championship, the overall Charolais Championship and the Interbreed Championship and the award for the best animal bred by its exhibitor. She is a Dingle Hofmeister daughter out of Balthayock Jessie by Swalesmoor Cracker, and had the great honour of leading the Grand Parade.

Our final show of the season was at Perth. We left Nessie behind but with a relatively new team had our fair share of success. Balthayock Loyalist swept the board. He was junior champion at Stirling in 2016 but he excelled himself on Perth show day winning the Charolais and Interbreed Championships, and was then made the Champion of Champions of all the animals in the show. Octavian was reserve male Champion and with Nona was part of the winning group of three.

It was a great effort by Tracey and Davie and a well-earned reward for all the time and hard work they had put into the show season.
