Balthayock Patrick.
Sired by the Royal Welsh Junior Champion & RHS Male and Junior Interbreed Champion Maerdy Grenadier who has been so influential with us at Balthayock and with Jim Muirhead at Firhills. He has sired many champions and show winners including Balthayock Loyalist, a Stirling Junior Champion and in 2019 the winner of the Charolais & Interbreed Championship and the Gold Cup at the Perth show for the best animal on the showground. Loyalist is now one of our most promising herd sires. Patrick’s dam Judith by Ugie Echo, a Reserve Junior Champion at Stirling in his day and a breeder of many high priced proven easy calving bulls, is a granddaughter of the 28,000 guinea Balbithan Vespasian.
Balthayock Pilgrim.
Sired by Gretnahouse Lunar, a bull we have used successfully on many of our cows and heifers, has proved to be very easy calving with a particularly good temperament which his offspring have inherited. He has consistently bred easily fleshed sons which are hard to tell apart. He was a sad loss to us last year when he died of blackleg.

A twin son of Gretnahouse Lunar, a bull we have used successfully on many of our heifers and who has proved to be very easy calving with a particularly good temperament which his offspring have inherited. He has consistently bred easily fleshed sons which are hard to tell apart. He was a sad loss to us last year when he died of blackleg. Patriot’s dam Deborah has bred bulls up to 8,000 guineas and is a daughter of the 28,000 guinea Balbithan Vespasian.

Balthayock Pagan.
Another son of Maerdy Grenadier, the Royal Welsh Junior Champion & RHS Male and Junior Interbreed Champion who has been so influential with us at Balthayock and with Jim Muirhead at Firhills. He has sired many champions and show winners including Balthayock Loyalist, a Stirling Junior Champion and in 2019, the winner of the Charolais & Interbreed Championship and the Gold Cup at the Perth show for the best animal on the showground. His dam Necklace is sired by Balthayock Imp, the RHS Charolais Male and Junior Interbreed Champion in 2015. Among many prize winning sons was Balthayock Nanook, Intermediate and Reserve Supreme Champion at Stirling in February 2019 and sold for 9500 guineas.
No doubt about Necklace’s fertility. She gave birth to her second calf in June 2020 at the age of two years and seven months!!
Balthayock Politician.
Sired by Gretnahouse Lunar, a bull we have used successfully on many of our heifers and he has proved to be very easy calving with a particularly good temperament which his offspring have inherited. Politician’s dam Insignia is sired by the 20,000 guinea Blelack Forester who has left us some tremendous breeding cows in the Balthayock herd. They are breeding particularly well with the highly rated proven easy calving Balthayock Impression.
Balthayock Panache.
Gretnahouse Lunar is a bull we have used successfully on many of our heifers and he has proved to be very easy calving with a particularly good temperament which his offspring have inherited. He has consistently bred easily fleshed sons which are hard to tell apart. He was a sad loss to us last year when he died of blackleg. Panache’s dam Millicent is by Ugie Echo, a Reserve Junior Stirling Champion in his day and sire of many proven easy calving and high priced bulls. The combination of Echo and Wesley Equinox in her pedigree all but guarantees that a son by Lunar will prove to be very easy to calve.
Balthayock Princeton.
Sired by Balthayock Loyalist, a son of the Royal Welsh Junior Male Champion and RHS Male and Junior Interbreed Champion Maerdy Grenadier. Loyalist was a Stirling Junior Champion and in 2019 won the Charolais & Interbreed Championship and the Gold Cup at the Perth show for the best animal on the showground. Loyalist is now one of our most promising herd sires. He has proved to be easy calving. Princeton’s dam Jade, with Swalesmoor Cracker and Dingle Hofmeister in her pedigree, is bred from some of the best and most successful sires we have used at Balthayock in the last fifty years.
Balthayock Premium.
Sired by Balthayock Influence who is proving to be a very easy calving son of Balthayock Ferdinand, the sire of Justice (50,000 guineas) and Minstrel (46,000 guineas). Premium’s dam Emily is breeding particularly well with Jackpot by Ugie Echo selling for 13,500 guineas and Octavian the October 2019 Stirling Junior and Supreme Champion, selling to Colin Wight from Carwood for 12,000 guineas.
Balthayock Publican.
Sired by Gretnahouse Lunar, a bull we have used on our cows and heifers with great success. He has proved to be easy calving and has passed on his excellent temperament to his offspring. His calves are easy fleshed and hard to tell apart. They are an ideal size for today’s market. His dam Lucinda by Adonis, the sire of the well proven Blelack Digger, is a daughter of Balthayock Heaven, the dam of the 14,000 guinea prize winning Balthayock Mikado who is now breeding successfully with John Jeffrey at Kersknowe.
Balthayock Pierre.
Pierre is the second last in this sale of our Gretnahouse Lunar sons. Lunar has proved to be very easy calving with a particularly good temperament which his offspring have inherited. They are hard to tell apart. Pierre is a heifer’s calf out of Mimosa by Ugie Echo, a reserve junior Champion at Stirling in his day and sire of many easy calving high priced bulls including Balthayock Jonathan, now a successful herd sire with Peter Donger in his Seawell herd and Balthayock Lineup with the Blyths at Marwood and of course Balthayock President, a potential champion, who we lost so tragically with a broken hind leg ten days before last October’s sale.
