We had a very successful May sale at Stirling with all the bulls we brought forward going to new homes. I was particularly pleased to sell a bull to Glenkiln Estate who we have sold many bulls to in the past.
Now we are off to Carlisle with two more bulls. Balthayock Nashville is a promising young bull by the outstanding herd sire Balthayock Ferdinand with some very high priced bulls to his credit.
I went to have a look at calves by Balthayock Minstrel, a Ferdinand son, at Bill Bruce’s Balmyle herd and although obviously a bit prejudiced, Tracey and I agreed they were absolutely outstanding.
Nashville’s dam is by the very successful and highly rated Swalesmoor Cracker who has five leading breed EBV traits in his pedigree.
Our second bull on offer, Balthayock Nomination, is sired by our home bred Balthayock Impression who carries an almost perfect set of EBVs. We are using him on as many of our pedigree heifers as possible because of his easy calving and outstanding growth.
Nomination’s dam Balthayock Hyacinth has bred bulls by Impression sold for up to £15,000. We sold three of Impression’s sons to pedigree herds last year.
