We are sending a team of six bulls to the May sale in Stirling which is becoming a more popular date in the sales calendar.

Lot No. 7. Balthayock Negus.
Lot No. 9. Balthayock Neville.
Both these closely related bulls are sired by Balthayock Influence a son of Balthayock Ferdinand who has bred such outstanding bulls as Balthayock Justice (50,000 gns to the Coolnaslee herd) and Balthayock Minstrel (46,000 gns to Balmyle and Harestone ). We have used Influence on our commercial and pedigree heifers with great success and he leaves consistently strong calves without causing us calving problems.

Lot No. 30. Balthayock Neutron.
Barbican Lancer was bought by us over forty years ago and we have used him on many of our heifers over the years. He is probably the easiest calving bull we have ever had with a calving ease direct EBV of +30.3. He combines this with high EBVs for milk and scrotal circumference and as a result his pedigree keeps on reappearing among some of our most fertile and prolific females.

Lot No. 31. Balthayock Nickname.
Lot No.37. Balthayock Nomination.
Lot No. 38. Balthayock Notorious.
Balthayock Impression is one of those rare bulls that combines very easy calving with exceptional growth. He really ticks all the boxes with four trait leadership EBVs and a terminal and self-replacing index of 83/86. We have sold his sons for £15,000 and last year three sons went to join highly respected pedigree herds. Sadly he died as a result of a fight with Balthayock Imp when the electricity supply failed on our electric fencing system but we are planning to keep one of his sons, Balthayock Nevada who has even higher EBVs of 89/90.

The May Sale at Carlisle 2019.

After a few years absence we are taking three young bulls to this May sale.

Lot No. 46. Balthayock Nashville.
Sired by Balthayock Ferdinand, one of our most successful herd sires with sons sold for 50,000 and 46,000 guineas, Nashville’s dam is by Swalesmoor Cracker who has been such a success at Balthayock bringing easy calving and exceptional EBVs for live weight gain.

Lot No. 58. Balthayock Northwind.
Sired by Balthayock Impression who is one of those rare bulls that bring easy calving combined with exceptional growth and we have and will continue to use him on our heifers where possible. Northwind has an interesting pedigree on his dam’s side. Balthayock Emerald was the dam of the 50,000 guinea Balthayock Justice.

Lot No. 62. Balthayock Nomination.
Another son of the easy calving and high growth EBV, Balthayock Impression. Nomination’s easy calving pedigree is reinforced on his dam’s side with Ugie Echo who has been such a success at Balthayock. Not only is he very easy calving but he keeps his flesh remarkably well so that a few years ago we took him away from his cows three days before the Perth show and he went on to win the Charolais Championship and the Junior Interbreed Championship.
